Untitled (Words of Concern), 2017

Analog tape recorder, 3 minute loop of tape, mirrored plexiglass disc and voices.

Duration: Infinite

Video documentation of the first installation of "Untitled (Words of Concern)” from inauguration day 2017. I sent an open invitation to the artists-in-residence and staff at the Rauschenberg Residency to record their voices as they listed their words of concern regarding the incoming administration, its potential aftermath and impacts on the future. Their words and my own were edited together into a 3-minute tape loop and installed at the main Rauschenberg studio. The concept was that the loop would play throughout that inaugural day as a point of focus—that these concerns that we share should give us strength instead of weighing us down. We are not alone. Our words have power.

"Untitled (Words of Concern)" was featured in the 2019 Whitney Biennial and is now in their permanent collection.

Featuring the words and voices of: Senga Nengudi, Kambui Olujimi, David Neumann, Wardell Milan, Anna Khimasia, Pamela Z, Marcus Fischer, Jessica Todd and Matt Hall
